When Wildlife Moves In You Need a Plan That Works

A raccoon in the attic or a snake in the garage is not something you plan for, but it is something that needs fast, professional attention. Wildlife Control covers the full range of nuisance animal situations, from squirrels chewing through insulation to bats roosting in hard-to-reach spaces, with methods that protect your property and treat animals humanely throughout the process.

Here is how the process works from first call to final resolution:

  1. A trained specialist inspects the property, including attics, crawl spaces, and entry points, to identify the species and assess the full scope of the problem.
  2. A customized removal plan is developed based on the findings, accounting for the specific animal, the severity of the situation, and the structure of your property.
  3. Humane traps and capture techniques are deployed strategically and checked on a regular schedule to minimize stress on the animal and disruption to your routine.
  4. Captured animals are relocated to suitable habitats well away from your home or business.
  5. Habitat modification recommendations are provided when needed, such as removing food sources or sealing entry points, to reduce the likelihood of a repeat problem.

The Real Threat Wildlife Poses to Your Home and Health

Wildlife in Your Home Can Cause More Damage Than You Think

Most homeowners in Connecticut assume that a few animals in the attic or crawl space is just a minor annoyance. The reality is that wildlife can quietly cause thousands of dollars in structural damage, contaminate insulation, and expose your family to serious health risks before you even realize the extent of the problem.

The Real Cost of Waiting It Out

It is tempting to hope the problem resolves itself. Animals, though, do not just move on. They nest, breed, and cause compounding damage the longer they stay. According to the National Wildlife Federation, wildlife causes over $1 billion in property damage across American homes each year. Chewed wiring, gnawed wood framing, and torn ductwork are common results. Beyond the structural issues, many animals carry diseases like leptospirosis, rabies, and hantavirus, all of which pose genuine risks to people and pets inside the home.

Here is a closer look at what wildlife activity can mean for your home in Connecticut:

  • Rodents and other small mammals chew through electrical wiring, which is a leading cause of house fires
  • Feces and urine from nesting animals can saturate insulation and create toxic air quality issues
  • Structural wood, vapor barriers, and insulation replacement can run into the tens of thousands of dollars
  • Parasites like fleas and ticks often travel with the animals and spread throughout the home
  • Disease transmission can occur through direct contact, droppings, or contaminated surfaces

Why Professional Removal Matters

ProfExt Pest Control handles wildlife control in a way that is thorough, humane, and built around your specific situation. The process starts with a detailed inspection to find entry points and assess any existing damage. From there, safe removal and relocation come next, followed by exclusion work that keeps animals from coming back. ProfExt Pest Control also uses fully unmarked vehicles, so the process stays discreet from start to finish.

If you still have questions about the process or what to expect, the answers to the most common concerns are just below.

Brian was friendly and efficient in treating our home for carpenter ants. He sprayed our crawl space and all of the wood in our yard and gardens that appeared to have been infested. He was mindful of our baby and even let us know to take extra precautions when cleaning out the rat droppings left behind in the crawl space after an insulation removal. There were still a few ants a few weeks after our initial visit, but soon someone called to check and his second visit was just as professional as the first. Brian is prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and thorough.
